Groot was my verbasing om te sien dat dit n dorpie in eie reg is, en nie net n kampeer plek soos wat ek gedink het toe ek die naam bord gesien het nie. 'n Pragtige dorpie met mooiste huise, restaurante, kwekery, kerk en Laerskool. Pragtige huise reg teenaan die mooiste berg.
 
Kampersrus, meaning camper's rest – a resting place for travellers, are pretty much travelling along the border between Mpumalanga and Limpopo. In the 1930s, Broer Maré bought a farm named Bedford at the foot of the northern Drakensberg and renamed it Kampersrus, meaning camper’s rest – a resting place for travellers.
 
Kampersrus is a historical town in Limpopo, secluded within the exquisite foothills of Marieskop Mountain. This mountain range looms over the little town protectively, providing breath-taking views from just about anywhere within its borders. The town is situated in a biosphere that includes the Kruger National Park and part of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, as well as the famous Blyde Canyon. This makes it a very valuable member of the natural wealth of the Limpopo Province, as it showcases some of its most spectacular areas. As such, it is close to a number of nature reserves and parks, in which the untouched fauna and flora of South Africa can be savoured at leisure. The Blyde River Dam is close to the town and is significant for being the locale of the Kadishi Waterfall. This is one of very few waterfalls in the world that are made from a particular variety of limestone called tufa. Blyde Canyon is the third-largest canyon on the planet, and is also a must for visitors to Kampersrus. In addition to its natural value, Kampersrus is well-equipped with the necessary shops, restaurants and pubs, which invite visitors to enjoy the local hospitality while languishing in the serene beauty. Hoedspruit is less than 30 kilometres away and the Eastgate Airport is 35 kilometres from Kampersrus.
