Kids on holiday in Tzaneen
This is a happy place for kids: Mhangela Animal Touch Farm, Tea Garden and Curio Shop with activities and fun for kids and relaxing leisure times for their adult guardians.
At Mhangela families can meet, touch and feed the tame and friendly animals like Jacob the donkey or the miniature ponies Maya, Misty, and Inca, to name a few. Furthermore, there are ostriches, emus, pot-bellied pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, rabbits and more. Your children can have safe, supervised pony rides as well.
Mhangela specializes in children's parties - with different themes, birthday cakes and Kiddies gift boxes. Along with this the ever-popular and inevitable jumping castle, plus a jungle gym and self-drive toy cars.
While the youngsters have their fun, parents can enjoy home-made treats in the tea garden or browse in the curio shop filled with local merchandise, arts and crafts. Across the road is the Conference Centre, where a Christmas market and colour run were held the first weekend in December.
Mhangela is the Tsonga word for a guinea fowl. The touch farm forms part of the Tzaneen Country Lodge's corporate identity. The lodge is located on the farm, Tarentaal, which brings us back to the central theme, as it is the Afrikaans name for a guinea fowl.
The touch farm will be open (during daylight hours) all through the festive season except on the public holidays (Christmas day and New Year's Day).
